Update

Well, Happy New Year!

First of all, if you havent heard of The Secret, go to www.thesecret.tv right now. I found out about it lat year and in the pas – what, week? – its blown up even further due to two shows dedicated to it on Oprah. The Secret talks about the Law of Attraction and it will change how you look at the world.

Let’s see what am I doing? Breathing finally – every company I belong to as had something going on this month

CoA:
Last Sunday, was the Company of Angels Open House which Ive been coordinating for the past couple months.

4Letter:
The latest Twilight Zone opneed a couple weeks ago and somehow Ive found myself running boards for it.

TST:
The 10 minute piece I directed was selected to a part of the mainstage show PLUS I agreed to do the program which turned out to be a 24 pg headache

Will & Co:
Since January I have learned two more shows: Midsummer and Don Quiote, which brings us to a total of four shows for them rattling around my brain.

Life is pretty good, though. Highlight of today: I finally changed Bank ACcounts. I havent closed my Bank of America account just yet (waiting for a check to clear), but I cant wait todo so and get away from the ridiculous fees Ive been paying!

Master Cleanse: Day 1

After the goodness and over abudance of Thanksgiving, I have begun a detox treatment known as the Master Cleanse:

Day 1, ten more to go

News: Kim’s planning a summer wedding

Yup, got the word a couple days ago: Kimchi and Bjourn are planning on jumping the broom in July ‘07

Thanksgiving

In an effort to avoid the last-minute chaos that envelops the night before Thanksgiving (or any major holiday where food is involved), I went to the store this morning. I was almost successful, except the one thing I absolutely needed: a covered cake pan. Ralphs was completely out, so I must brave the stores this evening, sure to be even more frustrated because I may have to stand in line to purchase one item. Ah.. must think happy thoughts :-)

What am I doing for Turkey Day? Im having a couple friends over to watch movies and eat. On the menu are:

What’s Cooking
Catfish in Black Bean Sauce
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

collard greens (would love some rutabegas, but hold no hope in finding them)
a rotisserie bird from Vons
Velveeta shells and cheese
candied yams (looking for a recipe now)
and of course, the oft-requested Kila po’cake.

Now, how is the Kilapo’ cake different from Grandma’s po’cake. Its double chocolatey: Ive added chocolate chips.

And, technically, its not really a po’cake. Much like the first po’cake was created by through necessity, mine has evolved becuase of the scarcity of box frosting mix. No frosting mix, nothing to poke. So, instead, I add Jello pudding into cake mix – YUM-MY

The last time I made it, I had some left-over strawberries, which led to the next evolution. Chocolate ake, chocolate chips, chocolate pudding and strawberries on top ;-)

The trick is to plan for unemployment

It never fails – thank goodness – everytime I plan for unemployment, I get work. My job on Little People Big World ends Dec. 1 after more than a  year. Was a little nervous, but then I started planning my time off.

Long story, short: Ill be spending my December days playing Charles Dickens in Will & Co’s production of A Christmas Carol.

Update

4:48 AM: Im awakened by a call from my mother. pick up the phone and of course, all I get is static and “tsunami”. Although I could ascertain from her tone of voice that no one was DEAD, I stayed away for another 30 minuts waiting to see if there was a tsunami headed towards L.A. or Virginia Beach. MMMhmmmmmm….

pix from my trip to San Jose last weekend

Looks like Playing Juliet/Casting Othello IS coming back as a mainstage show in February.
Pix from the production

Plans for the weekend? Im gona go see a how FRiday night with some friends, on Satursay I’ll be spending the day at the old Coa home cleaning it out before moving to the new CoA space, then spending the evening celebrating the move, and on Sunday I’ll do my best to sleep ALL DAY LONG – then get up that evening to attend a reading of The Meeting

Busy, busy me:

1) planning another reading for two screen plays

2)planning CoA’s new reading series

3) rehearsing the ten minute piece Im directing for the January play festival

4)working on the Dec. 24th production of one of Susan Lori Parks’ 365 plays.

Monday Update

Hey!

So lets see…. Saturday I sat in on the auditions for the TST play festival Im directing for. Lucky me: my little piece is cast! I still have to attend the callbacks instead f relzxing at home tomorrow night, but seeing as how Im probably unemployed Wednesday and Thursday, I can probably take it :-)

Sunday I rehearsed for the reading Im directing next Sunday. Its fun seeing new people mixed in with old members of my “crew”. (Hah! old members: just met most of them last April).

Tonight I have  a staff meeting and company meeting: looks like we have a new space, I need to solicit some help for the phoneraiser as well as schedule the readings for scripts Gwen and Mike have written.

OH – trying to have some  of all this creative motivation and serendipty rub off into tv and film: Some of my friends (ex-Swans) and I have repeatedly talked about collaboration on a project. Gonna see if I can get us moving.

i have pix from Juliet/Othello. Im working on getting them online :-)

Juliet/Othello closed

but not for long, hopefully. Nancy and NancyRenee, the founders of TST, came to the show last night. So, PJCO might come back in February as a coproduction of TST, CoA and of course, Panther Productions.

And Armando thought to record the show for achiving. maybe I will be able to get a copies made. And yes, Im still waiting on copies of 2 Gents.

Pix , you say? I did have a photographer come take pictures on Friday. When I get them, Ill put them on the site

Good news

Not only is Kimchi a doctor no, but she’ll soon be an old married lady! That’s right, Kim and Bjorn are engaged!

I just cant STOP!

Found out today that Im definitely directing one of the pieces for TST’s ten minute play festival. I dont know what Im directing, but none of my suggestions made the cut, which is fine since it means Im not tempted to direct AND act. Auditions are next Saturday, and Im hoping I see some familiar faces, but we’re rehearsing over the holidays. Oh…we’re rehearsing over the holidays….Im rehearsing over the holidays… sorry familia :-( Well, i;ll be unemployed then anyway….

And while we dont have a theater, we’re keeping our rehearsal space at the Church.; i just proposed that we do a reading of a couple screenplays written by two of my castmembers.
